The Proof is in the Pudding - Easter 2015
In Luke 24 we read a story of two of Jesus disillusioned disciples on the road to Emmaus following the death of Jesus. As Jesus meets them in their grief and disiullusionment they initially do not recognize him. Only as they broke bread with him were their eyes finally opened to see him for who is truly was.
This story is a powerful reminder that Jesus walks with us on the journey of life and in faith and that it is as we experience the love and presence of the risen Lord in the sacraments (communion, baptism) and life in community on mission together that we and others see evidence of Jesus Lordship in the fruit of the Spirit evidenced in our lives (Gal. 5:22-23). Only as we taste and see that God is indeed good (Ps. 34:8) will we draw closer to him and enhance our witness to a world yearning for the love and freedom that Jesus offers.
